Animal Assisted Therapy
Animal-Assisted Therapy is an evidence-informed approach that incorporates the gentle presence of a trained therapy dog into the counselling process. Research has shown that interacting with animals in therapeutic settings can reduce symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression while increasing feelings of comfort, trust, and emotional connection. The presence of a calm, supportive animal can help ease tension, especially for clients who may find it difficult to engage in traditional talk therapy.

Studies indicate that Animal-Assisted Therapy can:
-
Lower blood pressure and cortisol levels (stress hormone)
-
Improve mood and emotional regulation
-
Increase social interaction and openness in therapy
-
Foster a sense of safety, grounding, and connection
Therapy dogs can play an especially meaningful role for children, adolescents, individuals with trauma, and those managing anxiety-related concerns. They offer nonjudgmental support and can help create a soothing environment that encourages healing.

Your Comfort Comes First
Participation in Animal-Assisted Therapy is completely optional. If you prefer not to have the therapy dog present during your session, just let us know—we’re more than happy to tailor the space to your comfort and needs
